Hammertine 2

HAMMERTINE 2

In this lamellaphone, there are long-ish tines mounted in such a way that when plucked they hammer against “anvils” set just in front of the bridge. This distorts and raunchifies the sound. For another hammering-tine instrument I’ve made, see here. Unlike that one, in this version of the idea there’s enough pitch-sense in the tone that you can sort of tune the tines and play melodies.

In the sound clip, Hammertine 2 can be heard in duet with itself (plus a touch of claves).
