Big Weights

Each string on this instrument has a weight attached, and the weights can easily be moved to different locations along the string. They can be fixed in location, or left free to slide. The weights make a lot of distinctive sounds possible. Often these involve slow oscillating effects, as the weights easily get into a sustained up-and-down bouncing motion creating a pronounced vibrato in the string tone. They can be adjusted to rattle as they bounce, stimulating the string into continuing vibration. The strings segments on both sides of the weights may sound. The flat surface near one end of the strings may serve as a fingerboard.
