Keyboard DTF

DISORDERLY TUMBLING FORTH

The original version of this instrument was one of the first instruments I made. Connected to each key is a set of eight metal tubular chimes, all tuned to the same pitch but for one an octave higher. Pressing the key shakes the tubes causing them to clang together. A slow tremolo on the key produces a continuous, glittery stream of tone as long as you sustain the tremolo. Since that first edition of the instrument several more have been made. Among them are the later keyboard version shown here as well as Forest Vines DTF and Open DTF, which are non-keyboard versions of the same idea, both shown in this collection.

In the audio clip, the Disorderly Tumbling Forth is accompanied by a classical guitar.
