KÍQUE

Kíque is a lamellaphone played by finger-tapping on the tines, somewhat reminiscent of a guitarist’s hammer-on or finger-tapping technique. Each tine passes above the bridge, not pressing directly on the bridge but positioned so that it hovers slightly above. The player sounds the tine by using a fingertip to hammer it sharply down against the bridge, which causes the length beyond the bridge to vibrate. Magnetic pickups are positioned beneath to pick up the sound.
