ROTISSERIE FRICTION

Playing the ‘MOE FLUTE

In Rotisserie Friction a metal drum on a spindle is turned by a motor. Positioned over the drum on springy arms is a set of superballs of different sizes. When you press and hold the superballs down against the rotating drum (pressing not directly on the balls, but on their spring supports near the balls), they produce sad-cow moaning and groaning sounds. There are extra superball friction mallets available so you can also play with the drum stationary, drawing the mallets by hand across the drum. There’s a magnetic pickup positioned to capture the sound of the drum.
