SSS-K1

This is a kalimba-like instrument in which thirteen small tines are mounted directly on a thin sheet of spring-tempered steel which acts as a soundboard. The sheet is mounted at a single point and free to flex over most of its area. It imparts a sizzly, metallic tone quality. At the same time, it naturally tends to bend and flex, and this causes the sheet’s resonances to be forever shifting as the notes sounds, creating a fluid and exotic tone quality.
