TRILLIUM HARP
This is a variation on the trillium cluster (which also appears in this collection). In the trillium harp, each three-string group, with its three-pointed star configuration, is oriented vertically. Twenty-five of these vertical star groups are arrayed in a tightly-spaced row. The two lower string segments in each star are tuned to the same pitch. The upper, vertical segment is not sounded; instead, the player uses it to enrich the tone by exerting finger pressure to create vibrato and chorusing effects while plucking the lower segments. You can play conventional melodies on the trillium harp (unlike its cousin instrument, the trillium cluster, with its unruly and quirky tunings).
