WATER K
This is a pair of lamellaphones (kalimba-like instruments) bolted to metal pans holding a small amount of water. These pan-kalimbas are held on flexible supports so they can gently rock while playing. As the water moves about on the bottoms of the pans, the resonances shift and you get bendy, waffly, dreamy tones. Water K is one of several water-modulated instruments in the Hopkin Instrumentarium, along with this one and this one. All owe a debt to the late Richard Waters and his waterphone.
